How does this mercy express itself in our lives? Una, ipakita natin na tayo ay mga taong naakit kay Kristo at napagbigyan ng habag Niya. Pangalawa, ihain natin ang ating mga katawan sa Dios bilang haing buhay. Ang paglalagay natin sa ating buhay bilang haing buhay nangangahulugan na tayo ay hindi na nagmamay-ari sa ating buhay. Dahil hind na tayo ang nagmamay-ari nito ang buong buhay natin ay isang gawain ng Dios. (Ro 12:1,2) We no longer own our lives, our lives are by His mercy God's ministries. Through this same mercy we are given a ministry. Pangatlo, maipapahayag natin ang habag ng Dios sa ating buhay sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng mga saganang opportunidad na maging mahabagin araw-araw.

The Mercy of God

Nandito tayo ngayong araw na ito dahil sa habag ng Dios. Habag or mercy is an attribute of God.

Psalms 5:7 (NIV)7 But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.

Dahil sa habag ng Dios tayo ay templo ng Dios. Di ba tayo ay living stones, mga batong buhay na pinagiisa bilang templo ng Dios.

Dahil din sa habag Niya tayo ay naging kasakop sa pamilya ng ating Dios.

Malaki ang utang natin sa kahabagan ng Dios bagamat madalas hindi natin ito binibigyan ng pansin.

Ngayong araw na ito dapat alamin natin kung ano iyong habag ng Dios. At para malaman natin ito may sasagutin tayong 4 na tanong tungkol sa kahabagan Niya.

1. What is mercy? Ano ba ang habag ng Dios?
Ang habag ay higit pa sa pagbigay sa tao ng higit pa sa karapatdapat sa kanya. Ito ay ang pagbigay sa kabila ng matibay na dahilan upang ang pagbibigyan ay di dapat bigyan.
Mercy is more than giving someone something that is much more than he or she deserves, it is giving it to him or her even though one could argue against it being reasonable to give it.

2. Ano ba ang kaibahan ng habag sa biyaya? How is that different from grace?

Ang habag ay nagsasabi na tayo ay karapatdapat parusahan ngunit hindi tayo makakatanggap ng parusa na iyan.
Samantala, ang biyaya ay ang pagkakaloob ng isang bagay na di natin maaring kamtin.

Mercy says you deserve some type of punishment but you will not get what you deserve.
Grace is a gift of something you have not earned. Do you see the difference?
If you came this morning without shoes and I just gave you a pair out of the goodness of my heart you would be a recipient of grace. If you threw that pair into a dumpster, but then realized you needed them and I gave you another pair, then you have received mercy.
Listen to the application in Psalms 41:4 (NIV). 4 I said, "O LORD, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you." I have sinned, and I deserve this affliction, but I ask for something that is contrary to what I deserve. That is asking for mercy. Both attributes, grace and mercy, spring from the goodness of God and are unearned by anything we do.


3. What can we see about His mercy? Ano ang makikita natin tungkol sa kanyang kahabagan?

• Binibigay Niya ang kahabagan Niya doon sa mga lumapit at sumunod sa Kanya sa kaligtasan. He gives his mercy on those who have a saving relationship with Him.
(Psa.32:10) "He that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass Him about ".

• Binubuhos Niya ang kahabagan Niya doon sa mga sumusunod sa Kanya. Obedience opens a window for God to pour in His mercy. Sa pagkakaroon natin ng relationship sa Panginoon maguumpisa ang pabuhos ng habag Niya ngunit hinihingi din ng Paginoon ang patuloy nating pagsunod sa kanya ng maibuhos Niyang patuloy ang biyaya Niya.

You see mercy is only applied in righteousness. Let me give you an illustration from Israel’s history. Noong sinakop ng Israel ang Lupang Pangako may mga siyudad na kailangan nilang lupigin. Ang mga kayamanan ng mga siyudad na ito ay dapat ialay nila bilang haing sinunog o' kaya'y burnt offering. Kung merong lalabag ito aksyon na ito ay maghahadlaang sa habag ng Dios. To reward rebellion is not right or just or even genuine love. Deut 13:17,18 “None of those condemned things shall be found in your hands, so that the LORD will turn from his fierce anger; he will show you mercy, have compassion on you, and increase your numbers, as he promised on oath to your forefathers,18 because you obey the LORD your God, keeping all his commands that I am giving you today and doing what is right in his eyes.”

Dan 9:18 (NIV)18 Give ear, O God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.

• Ang pagsisisi ay siya ring daan ng Kanyang kahabagan. Repentance also opens a way for His mercy to be received. Prov 28:13 (NIV)13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
So we see God chooses to have mercy on those who are repentant and those not in rebellion against Him, those not disobedient to His commands. Obedience and repentance open a channel for the mercy of God to flow. They do not earn mercy but allow it to flow righteously. Numerous times through the psalms we see this expression of repentance and a request for mercy to be displayed toward the psalmist or the nation.

Man cannot find repentance and obedience in himself without the mercy and grace of God moving upon his heart. This mercy that moves upon the heart of every man is the light that lights every man that comes into the world.(John 1:9)

When that mercy clearly reveals God calling us to Himself, we become accountable to respond. Before we have really received that calling of God we are undeserving sinners by nature. We need a clear picture of what the fallen human condition is to truly appreciate mercy. God would be perfectly justified in wiping our sin loving lives off the planet for all the pain and havoc our rebellious hearts cause. Lam 3:22 (KJV)22 It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

The mercy of God is sometimes an excuse for an unrepentant life. I’ve heard people say, “What kind of merciful God would send a soul to hell.” That ideology is merely a justification for not yielding to the mercy of God drawing them to repentance. What a sad excuse for remaining in rebellion. God pleads with each one of us not to go on destroying our lives with rebellion, and some would insist on going down that path by twisting the very nature of God. To say God is merciful without being just is to distort His integrity and make God into man’s image, and to insistently continue down our path of self-destruction.

4. Paano ba ipinahayag ng Dios ang Kanyang habag?

Ipinahayag ng Dios ang Kanyang habag sa pamamagitan ng kanyang poot sa masasama. God’s wrath on the wicked is an expression of His mercy. It is an exercise of His justice to turn them from self-destruction. Hell for the unrepentant rebels who will ignore His love of God in giving His own Son for them is just and in keeping with the rebels’ demand to live separated from God. He announces His wrath that others may take heed. For those who reject the love of God and the gift of His Son, the judgement they receive will be equity for their choices. What they have sown they will reap. They have sown the wind and they will reap the whirlwind. Ps 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations that forget God. Since they reject what the Son has done for them, they will be paid in full for their sin – death (separation from Life). Anything else would be inequitable and God cannot be unfair. It’s just not in His perfect character.

Ang kahirapan, mga pasakit at mga pighati sa buhay ay kasama din sa pagpapahayag ng habag ng Panginoon sa ating buhay. Trials in our lives, illness, trouble, and trials can be an expression of mercy. Alam ni David ito, alam ni Job ito at alam rin ni Pablo ito, na ang buhay man ay may mga pighati, pinahintulutan lang ng Panginoon ito hindi dahil malupit siya, kundi'y sa pamamagitan nito'y lumakas tayo. Jonah was mercifully thrown into the sea, swallowed by a great fish and spit up on the shores of the very place he had been running from. He probably wouldn’t have described it as mercy at the time, but later when Ninevah repented he could see it was. In weakness we are made strong. In difficulty we turn from self and look to the One who is our Strength. This, too, is the mercy of God. Mercy doesn’t always come in the form we expect.

As with all His attributes, the ultimate expression of mercy is the cross. One problem with the Jews of that day is they did not expect mercy to appear in a form so humble and so gruesome. God cannot bless us with saving mercy while the justice for our rebellion against Him is unmet. In the cross, the justice of God was met, so that we could justly be recipients of the mercy of God. It is by the mercy of God we were saved. We deserved justice of eternal punishment for our rebellion against our Creator who gave us life. But the mercy of God sent Jesus, who took what we rightly deserved so that mercy could be poured out on us – justly. “… saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” Titus 3:5a It wasn’t because we repented, or because we responded to his grace that drew us, although that unbolted the door – It is because His Son died in your place.

Kaligayahan ng puso ng Dios na maipahayag ang habag Niya. It delights the heart of God to express mercy toward you. Micah 7:18 (NIV)18 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. God would love to show mercy to every soul. It is His delight. But some refuse to come to Him for His redeeming mercy and grace.

Nais din Niya na ipahayag at isabuhay din natin ang habag Niya. God desires that we exhibit this beautiful quality as the life of Christ is expressed in us. Micah 6:8 (NIV)8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

We are to love mercy. God doesn’t just like to show mercy. He loves to. More than any ritual we can perform or routine we can go through God wants us to express this attribute of His. Hosea 6:6 (NIV)6 For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings. It was one of the three important things Jesus told the Pharisees they were lacking. Mt 23:23 But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. (The important matters of the Law are the attributes of God that we are to reflect.)
Zech 7:9 This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.’ If you want mercy from God and others, Jesus said to be merciful. If you show mercy you will receive mercy. Mt 5:7 Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy.

How does this mercy express itself in our lives?

Choosing to keep loving the offensive is to express mercy. They offend and offend and offend, but God’s love conquers all and it is an expression of His mercy.

To forgive those who wrong you again and again is mercy. And remember the promise, ‘the merciful will be shown mercy.’ The same measuring cup you use toward others, God will use toward you. Let us be known to be merciful beings in the world.

Let us show mercy as one motivated by true love. His mercy is the right kind, mixed with love, yet just and holy, not self motivated, but love motivated. His kind of mercy is always the right kind.

Is there someone in your life you are having difficulty showing God’s mercy to? You think you’ve scraped the bottom of your mercy barrel. Remember the widow of Zerapheth, reach into that empty jar and - WOE it’s not empty – I was just sure I’d used up all the mercy last time, but there is more of the mercy of God there to meet the need. The life of Jesus in you will never run empty. It will be in you like an artesian spring, flowing up into eternal life! Let Him express His mercy through you and you will be shown even more mercy than the ocean of mercy you have already received.

If we were a little more in touch with reality of the Kingdom of God we could see we are all swimming in an ocean of mercy. It reminds me of the man who was forgiven a debt of a great amount but refused to give mercy to the one who owed him so little. Be merciful – even as your Father in heaven is merciful. Considering all the mercy He has invested in you, it is only right for you to pass it on to everyone you come in contact with – and may I say especially those who are close to you.

Right now the Spirit of God has probably brought someone to mind that you need to be merciful toward. Would you like the same measure of mercy applied to you that you are showing them? Well? Come on now? Is that how you want God to deal with you? Then you better get ready to show more mercy by the grace of God. You need to act on the conviction you are receiving right now if you believe the word of God. I don’t mean just forgiving it, but do what the LORD does for you, in the way He does it for you. Use the biggest measure you can find. Determine right now before God how you need to respond to show God’s great mercy, and follow through with that plan with God’s help.

Ang Pagibig ng Dios
The Love of God



God is love. 1John 4:8,16
Kung meron man isang salita na nakapagbigay kalituhan ng mga tao, ito ang salitang pagibig. Ano ba ang pagibig. What is love? Ang salitang love sa orihinal ay hindi kasi natin nabibigyan ng hustisya sa ating pagtranslate. May 3-4 na klase ng pagibig. Andiyan ang phileo na siyang ginagamit natin sa brotherly love. Andiyan ang eros na ang gamit ay para sa physical and sensual love. Dito ang ginagamit ay ang agape. Agape is that kind of love that is freely given and that expects nothing back. Ito ang pagibig na kusang binibigay at hindi humihingi ng kapalit.

Ang pagibig ay hindi yuong sentimentality, romantic attachments at iba pa. Minsan nalilito tayo sa sa ating sinasabi tungkol sa Dios , sinasabi natin na Siya ay pagibig ngunit dulot ng ating kalituhan ginagamit natin ang modern usage ng salitang pagibig.of the word ‘love’. We often think of love as some wimpy sentimental gushy indulgent kindness. This is where we need the truth of Scripture to transform our thinking and give us the real definition of love.

Today as we think of God as love we have to ask what does the Bible say about His love? Napakayaman ng Bibliya sa mga sinasabi nito tungkol sa Dios na pagibig depinisyon nito tungkol sa pagibig.



1. His love is a love that denies itself for the one loved. Ang kanyang pagibig ay isang pagibig na di lumilingon sa sarili maibig lang ang iniibig.

Basahin natin ang 1 Corinthians 13.
If you look deeply into this chapter you will find all the attributes of God we have discussed. So anong klaseng pagibig ito na siyang imahen dn ng ating Dios.

Ang pagibig niya ay matapat (His love is faithful),v.4
Ang kanyang pagibig ay di nagbabago (His love is unchanging),
Ang kanyang pagibig ay maawain (His love is merciful),v.5a
Ang kanyang pagibig ay hindi nagmamaliw (His love never fails).v.8


Napakaiba ang pagibig ng tao. Ang pagibig ng tao ay parating nakasalalay sa pagibig ng iba. Umiibig ang tao ngunit humihingi ito ng kapalit. The love of man is often contingent upon others returning our love or giving us the favors we demand. God’s love however does not seek His own benefit.

Kung ang pagibig natin ay kagaya ng pagibibig Niya, itong pagibig na ito ay makapagbago sa atin.


We love Him because He first loved us. 1John 4:19
Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. Psalms 48:9

Hindi natin maintindihan ang buong kalawakan ng kanyang kahulugan.

To step into this holy ground and try to elaborate on this description of God is to know we will only touch the surface of this attribute. In 1743 John Brine appropriately said, “No tongue can fully express the infinitude of God’s love, or any mind comprehend it: It ‘passeth knowledge’ (Ephesians 3:19). The most extensive ideas that a finite mind can frame about Divine love, are infinitely below its true nature.” As with all of God’s attributes, we must look past the mind of man to the revelation of God’s word to get a glimpse of this marvelous perfection of God’s love.

2. His love is a love that was a certain willingness to give up one’s life for another. Ang pagibig Niya ay may kahandaang ibigay ang sariling buhay.

Maibigay lang niya ang buhay na hawak sa iba, If we were to describe the love of God without the Word of God we would fall miserably short. 1 John 3:16 (NIV)16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. John 15:13 (KJV) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ano ba ang dapat maibigay natin kagaya ng pagbibigay ng isang What more could anyone give for another? Romans 5:5-8 (NIV)5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.


If we are to look at a picture of this attribute there is but one perfect picture – it is the cross. It is in Christ Jesus loving us so much that He willingly laid down His life for us. That is the love of God demonstrated for us so that we might be able to understand it. For God so loved the world He gave his only begotten son… A laying down of one’s life or that dearest to him for another is the love we are talking about. This is the love that God has for you. Oswald Chambers said, “In the cross we may see the dimensions of Divine love. The cross is not the cross of a man, but the exhibition of the heart of God. At the back of the wall of the world stands God with His arms outstretched, and every man driven there is driven into the arms of God. The cross of Jesus is the supreme evidence of the love of God.”

In 19 We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19 (NIV) And remember what love we are talking about? Love that lays down your life. We see the love He first had for us in laying down His life for us, and as we let the power and reality of that past our hard exterior and into our very heart, the same type of love is birthed in us, His own love, that lays down our life for Him and for others. This is one place NIV has a more accurate rendering of the Greek, for there is no pronoun that is the object of love in the Greek. It doesn’t say we love HIM or we love OTHERS. The text just says, “We love because…”

3. His love causes us to love those whom He loves. Ang pagibig Niya ay tumutulak sa atin na umibig din sa mga iniibig Niya.

You can’t have that agape love in you without loving God and in turn those He loves. And again, that love is death to self, laying down your life. Follow along as I read what John writes in the fourth chapter of his first letter: 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.13 We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him.18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.19 We love because he first loved us.20 If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.21 And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother. 1 John 4:7-21 (NIV)

Verse 9 says God showed His love – it has been demonstrated in sending His only Son into the world, why? That we might live through Him. God loves us so much that He wants to rescue us from our spiritually dead condition. We don’t deserve to be rescued, but He loves us, and He desires to rescue us and give us life. The

Elizabeth DeBeasi tells the story of putting her daughter Carla to bed. She asked Carla, “What is it like to be 4?” Carla answered, “It’s special!” “Why”, her mother asked. “Because I know my mommy loves me”, came her quick reply. Life is special no matter what your age, because you know for sure that your heavenly Father loves you!








4. His love is poured on us. Ibinuhos Niya ang pagibig Niya sa atin.

1 John 3:1 (NIV) 1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! I like that word ‘lavished’. God’s love doesn’t just get distributed sparingly, for God declared Himself to Moses as the One abounding in love. What a need there is for us to know how much we are loved. When you realize what man is, as we contemplated in the sermon last week, and what it means that God is holy as we studied the week before, then we realize how much we need the love of God in abundance.

5. His love is a jealous love. His love desires that we love Him who is the righteous and just God that we have. Ang pagibig Niya ay seloso. Ninanais Niya na Dios na matuwid at walang kamalian Siya ay walang karibal sa ating pagibig.

James chapter four tells us how jealous God is over us. The world looks at jealousy as a negative virtue, but we must understand the desire of God is that we be completely His. What else is there? If we belong to anything else, it is the world – and that is sin – and sin destroys. God’s jealousy is holy, unlike man’s. It is a desire to see us pure, kept from evil, walking in His life and light, completely His.

The love and faithfulness of God are ever preceding Him, but remember that his rule and reigning is established on a foundation of righteousness and justice. Psalms 89:14 (NIV) declares, Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. The love of God will not ignore justice or keep from disciplining those He loves. With love comes some painful scourging. God will do, in love, whatever it takes to keep His child from going astray. He wants us to know the consequences of sin. If you want to walk closely with God welcome that consistent discipline from the loving hand of God.

When God allows those painful experiences in life it helps me to remember what Christ suffered. He was beloved of the Father but He experienced poverty, disgrace and persecution. He got hungry and thirsty. The fact that men were allowed to spit on Him and punch Him did not mean that God did not love Him. And so we, too, should not question the love of God when we are rejected, afflicted or in a trial. He had nowhere to lay His head but He did have the Spirit without measure. Understand that spiritual gifts and spiritual comfort are gifts of God’s love that are worth more than wealth, more than pleasure, more than all the world can offer.




Conclusion
Brothers and sisters, if we are going to touch the community, we must be willing to allow God to change us from whiners to winners! Winners realize they have won. They don’t focus on the little errors of others. They are focussed on the victory of Jesus. Because God loved you so much He made you a winner in His Son. When He said, “It is finished!” He was declaring His victory for you. When He rose from the dead He rose victorious over death and hell. If you’ve risen with Him you are a winner! His abundant love is upon you.

Eph 3:16-19(NIV)16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge --that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

God expects His life in you to express His love, His unconditional love to Him first. That is the great Commandment, and then to others as His love flows through you. John said, if that isn’t happening, we probably don’t know God, because GOD IS LOVE. The invitation is to open our hearts afresh to Calvary and our eyes to His love expressed in so many ways toward us personally everyday; and then for us to return that first love, and let it flow to others. The cost is laying down our life, but that is the natural fruit of knowing and receiving His love for us. We can’t work it up, but we can let it flow. We can follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as He expresses love toward the Father, and love to others.

I’ll close with a story from Ed Rotz. He went to the hospital to see his premature granddaughter, Zoe. Zoe is the Greek word for life. Little Zoe was only 1 pound and 7 ounces. Ed’s wedding band could slide up Zoe’s arm all the way to her shoulder. When Ed first saw Zoe she had 2 IVs in her naval and one in her foot. There were monitors on each side of her chest. In her mouth were respirator and feeding tubes. To make matters worse, one-week earlier Zoe’s biological father had moved on. The nurse, Helen, found out Ed was related and told him, “You are going to be Zoe’s surrogate father. I want you in here everyday stroking her arms and legs with your fingertips and telling her you love her. If this baby is going to make it she will have to hear and feel she is loved.”

God knew we needed His voice and touch, so He not only gave us His Word (His voice) but also His Son (His tangible presence). He gave us not only Jesus Christ (the Word made flesh) but also His body, the church. God’s voice and God’s touch say, “I love you. Keep your eyes open to His love as you go through each day and your ears open to His words of abounding love toward you.

God’s Faithfulness

Ito ang second sa serye natin tungkol sa mga attributes at karakter ng Panginoon.

Who is God? God is the sum of all His attributes – descriptive words that inform us of His makeup.

Ang bawat isang attribute or characteristic o karakter ng Dios ay nakikita nating napiperfect sa Dios. Ang bawat expression ng bawat isang attribute ay reflection lang sa bawat karakter ng Paginoon.

All the characteristics of God are perfect and in perfect harmony with one another. The facets on a diamond could serve as an illustration. Each cut makes a surface on the diamond, and light goes in and out of all the surfaces making a sparkle. If one surface is marred you do not have a perfect diamond and it will not sparkle like a flawless diamond. Each perfect surface is one of the attributes of God.

There are faithful people, but if we want to see real faithfulness we look at God. Faithfulness is one of God’s attributes and we are going to discuss that today.

If God was faithful but He was not totally righteous, what is it that He would be faithful to? If God is love but is not just then what does He love?

You see the attributes of God interact and are perfected by the other attributes.

Each adds to the beauty and perfection of the others. If any one were missing, none would be perfect.

Sa serye na ito tatalakayin natin ngayon ang kanyang faithfulness..

Napakahalaga na maintindihan natin ang karakter ng Dios. Ang karakter niya ang ating batayan kung ano ang tama at mali. It is because He is faithful that we should be faithful.

Naisip ba natin kung bakit tama o’ mali ang isang bagay. Tama ang isang bagay hindi lang dahil sabi ng Dios. Tama ang isang bagay dahil ito ay batay sa Kanya. Something is wrong because it is at odds with the character of our perfect God.Itong konsepto na ito ay parang wala na. Ang mali ay ginagawang tama sapagkat nalilimutan na natin ang tunay na tama na Siyang ating Panginoon.

As we enter this subject we are standing on holy ground. We are not walking on the disputable territory of the opinions of men but the declaration of Scripture.

Paano ba natin nalalaman na Siya ay faithful? How do we know God is faithful? Ayon sa salita Niya, ang Dios natin ay faithful at Siya ay di marunong magsinungaling. He has proven Himself faithful in the lives of the characters throughout Scripture. Ang Biblia ay nagpapahayag nito at sa isang maiksi na word study makikita natin kung gaano ka faithful ang ating Panginoon. You will see that when His faithfulness is mentioned often another characteristic of God is mentioned alongside it.
1. Siya ay kapanapanalig. He is a reliable God.
Ex 34:5-7 (NIV)Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD. 6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."
Here God declares Himself to be abounding in faithfulness. The Hebrew word used here for faithfulness is emeth. It is used in Genesis 24:27 when the servant of Abraham looks for a wife for Isaac and is led right to her; he declares that God has been emeth with Abraham. God answered Abraham’s prayer and provided a wife for Isaac. That was an expression of God’s abounding faithfulness. Faithfulness is translated ‘true’ in the KJV. Strong’s concordance says emeth means: firm, sure, reliable, and stable. That is what God declares Himself to be.

Hasn’t He proven Himself emeth with you? Has He answered your prayers and provided for your needs? Have you found Him to be reliable? Then you have experienced His faithfulness. I can certainly tell you He has been faithful toward me. Even when I was faithless, ignoring His warnings, fighting His Holy Spirit, He was faithful. He was faithful to discipline me, faithful to continually to convict me when I walked in rebellion, faithful to provide a way to escape, faithful to bring brothers and sisters to help, faithful to teach me. He has been nothing but faithful (emeth) to me.


2. Siya ay ang ating sariling sandigan. He is our support.
Deut 7:9 (NIV)9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.
This word is aman: To support, confirm, and be faithful – It is used of the support pillars for a door. Here it is used in connection with His covenant of love. He is the One that confirms it and supports it. “He is the faithful God,” means you can count on His love continuing in your life. Where do you run when the earth shakes? Between the door pillars, the faithfulness of God! Where do those who do not know God run when there is trouble? There is no one else that can support us like God can.

3. Siya ay matuwid at di nagbabago. He sticks withwhat is right and never ever changes.
Deut 32:4 (NIV)4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Here the word ‘faithful’ is Emuwnah – firm, steadfast – You can count on God to do what is right with consistency. He is never one way this week and of a different bent the next. He is steadfast! When you go to Him, you always know what to expect. He’ll never be out to lunch, sleeping on the job, not ready to hear your need. No, our God is steadfast. He is always on the side of good because He is good.

4. Higit pa sa ating pangangailangan ang kanyang faithfulness. His faithfulness is greater than what we think about Him.

Psalms 36:5(NIV)5 Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.
Do you recall the old children’s song, “So high you can’t get over it, so low you can’t get under it, so wide you can’t get around it, you gotta go in through the door”? His love and faithfulness are always bigger than our need.

I’ve been tempted to doubt God’s faithfulness, His dependability. I think we all have doubted. If we did not doubt we would believe every word of Scripture as if it was a contract with the most capable, most dependable person to ever live. Come to think of it, it is! Has there ever been anyone more capable, more dependable than Jesus? Then why do we not utterly trust His every Word? We certainly should.


5. Ang kanyang faithfulness ay saganang bukal para sa atin. His faithfulness is like an abundant spring for us.

Psalms 86:14-15 (NIV)14 The arrogant are attacking me, O God; a band of ruthless men seeks my life-- men without regard for you.15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
Abounding faithfulness! When we are under attack, when it seems like everyone is against us, we can count on the abounding love and faithfulness of our Father. He is seeking our best, in contrast to those that seek to harm us. Compassionate and gracious, abounding in love and faithfulness, what an awesome God!

6. Ang kanyang Faithfulness ay kanaisnais ipahayag. His faithfulness is worthy to be proclaimed.

Psalms 89:1-2 (NIV)1 I will sing of the Lord's great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. 2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

David wanted to tell every generation of God’s faithfulness. The youth can trust Him to raise them up to be men and women of God. The adults can trust His faithfulness in guiding them into the ministry He is leading them into. The aged can count on His faithfulness to see them through to their heavenly home. He says the foundation of this faithfulness, this eternal love of God, is fixed in heaven itself, not here on this changeable realm. Four of the last five scriptures have tied love with faithfulness. He is faithful to you because He has set His love on you.

7. Ang kanyang Faithfulness ay ine-express Niya kasama ang pag-ibig

Psalms 91:4 (NIV)4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
2 Thess. 3:3 (NIV)3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
His faithfulness protects you. You surely must realize that Satan would destroy you in a moment for he came to kill, steal and destroy, but the Lord is faithful to protect you! Take that protection away for an instant and we would be gone. Thank God for His faithful covering. Don’t step out from under it. Walk in obedience.

Psalms 119:75 (NIV)75 I know, O LORD, that your laws are righteous, and in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
Illness can be an expression of His faithfulness. If there is something we need to learn, or something we will not heed any other way, His faithful love will bring us into affliction. God does not always want to heal. Those who He loves, He chastens and He scourges every son He receives.

Isaiah 25:1 (NIV)1 O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.
All He does is in perfect faithfulness. You will notice that perfection is applied to all His attributes. There is not even a tiny flaw in His faithful acts. All that God has planned will happen, and it is all planned in consistency with His perfect faithfulness. We are so used to thinking of God as being like man that we have a hard time really grasping how perfect and wonderful He is. He is utterly trustworthy. Where are you placing your trust?

Lam 3:22-23 (NIV)22 Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
His love and compassion are always new every morning – what great faithfulness!


Jesus name is Faithful and True. The Old Testament word for faithful was often translated true. He is truth, and because of that He is also faithful. Here faithfulness is mentioned alongside justice. God’s love is His faithfulness toward those who receive what Jesus has done for them, and His wrath is His faithful justice toward those who reject Him and all the goodness that He is.

From these passages we have a clarification of this attribute and how it is displayed toward our lives. We also see what we should be like. Let me go over these Biblical implications of the faithfulness of God as declared in these passages.

He is dependable to answer our prayers and to meet our needs. We can count on His love continuing in our lives. He will always be consistent. In every thing He does and in all
His ways, faithfulness is displayed. It is huge (reaching the skies). It never changes. It seeks what is best for us. It protects us. Sometimes it afflicts us to teach us. It assures us that all God’s promises will be kept. It is perfect – without the slightest flaw. It brings new compassion each morning. It will see us to be made complete, blameless in body, soul and spirit. It limits our temptations, providing a way out of temptation. When we confess sin it applies forgiveness and cleansing. It is inseparable from truth and it should be a part of our character.

What should this mean to us in our everyday lives? We may believe God is faithful but do we act on it. To act on His faithfulness means not to worry about tomorrow. It means fretting and fear have no place in our lives, for God is entirely trustworthy. It should give us a sense of peace regardless of our situation. We will all face times when it will be hard to see His faithful love in circumstances in our lives, but if we are believing what we know of His character, we can praise God in the midst of the trial, knowing He is faithful. In the Psalms, David pours out his complaint to the Lord and then says, “But in the past You delivered me and I know You will do it again.” Then he begins to praise God. That was His confidence in God who is always faithful. He has delivered you in the past and He will deliver you in the future. Have the same confidence in His faithfulness that David had!

Today, faithfulness has hit an all-time low in our society. Divorce comes from a lack of marital faithfulness, insecure children from a lack of parental faithfulness, ruined businesses due to financial unfaithfulness. Since God is calling us to the faithfulness that is His own character, how does this work in your life? How can you express His faithfulness to your mate, children, employer or employees, and those you come in contact with every day? Can they see God’s faithfulness in your actions? Is God calling you into a deeper walk of faithfulness today? In what area of your life? And how will you let Him express it in you? He is faithful and He will help you to live in an expression of His faithfulness if you are willing.

When I look back on my life, I see many times when I doubted the faithfulness of God. As time passed I could see that God was faithful even when man was not. God was faithful, even when I was not. If you are in a time of wondering, let me encourage you that one day you will see, God has been faithful. I say that with all certainty. One day you will see His faithfulness has never wavered one tiny bit. It never has. It never will. Just as God is good all the time, He is faithful all the time. We can say with certainty that God is faithful all the time. And all the time God is faithful. Let this truth sink into your heart and affect the way you see and interpret the world around you.

I have shared with you this list of Scriptures and some of their implications so you can examine what God desires to work into your heart and life. He wants sons and daughters that look like Him. Be a godly expression of faithfulness in the world in which you live for His glory, in response to His faithfulness to you.

What do we see here? God is holy. He demands that we live holy lives. His laws are to be standards that we should follow. We are by nature unholy, unable to obey.But instead of obliterating us to nothing He changes us that we may be able to obey Him. We are not perfect. We are only a people whose perfect and holy God is at work in changing us.

The Holiness of God

Isaiah 6:1-5
Anong bagay ang nagpapaiba [set apart] ng Dios sa atin?
"Who among the gods is like you, O LORD? Who is like you-- majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? Ex 15:11 (NIV)

Ang salitang ‘holiness’ [sa Hebrew] ginagamit sa isang sense ng separateness, sacredness, apartness, pagkaiba, o’ pagkawalay.

Ang Dios lamang ang kasing banal na ganito. God is the only One that is Holy in this sense. “Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy.” Rev 15:4 (NIV)
"There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.”1 Sam 2:2NIV

Ngayong araw nais ko na makita natin kung ano talaga ang Dios sapagkat naniniwala ako na kung kilala natin kung sino nga siya at ano Siya, tayo ay magbago dahil sa kanya.

May dalawang tanong tayong sasagutin. Una, tungkol po sa deskripsyon ng ating Dios at pangalawa, tungkol po sa karapatdapat nating reaksyon kung makaharap natin ang kabanalan ng Dios.

Ano ba ang deskripsyon ng ating Panginoon?

Ang ating Panginoon ay ang makapangyarihang Manlilikha . He is Sovereign Creator.

We are dependent on Him for everything, space, substance, life itself, but He needs nothing. He never has. He never will. Who is like the LORD who is separate, sacred, and apart from us?

1. An encounter with God’s holiness should cause us to worship Him. Ang bawat encounter natin sa kabanalan ng Panginoon ay dapat magudyok sa atin na sumamba sa Kanya. Every encounter with God in Scripture, God in His glory, causes the one who sees the revelation to fear and tremble.

Moses asked for the encounter and got more than he bargained for. He asked to see God with his own eyes. God, in His mercy, put him in the cleft of a rock and covered him, but allowed him to catch a glimpse of His backside. He said, “You cannot see my face for no man can see my face (a full complete revealing of the glory of God) and live.” And the result of that glimpse was a face that so glowed that people ask that it be covered.

Habbakuk heard the Lord in the third chapter of his book and here is how he described his reaction: 16 I heard and my heart pounded, my lips quivered at the sound; decay crept into my bones, and my legs trembled. Habakkuk 3:16 (NIV)

2. An encounter with God’s holiness should cause us to see our deplorable sinfulness. Ang bawat encounter natin sa Panginoon ay dapat magudyok sa atin na makita ang ating sariling kasuklamsuklam na pagkamakasalanan.

Job demanded to meet with God and when he did, Job said he would put his hand over his mouth. “I deplore myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

• If we want to see ourselves let us use God’s mirror of holiness. According to that mirror, we are not so bad, we are just very bad.

Parati nating kinukumpara ang ating sarili sa iba at parati nating konklusyon na mas OK pa rin tayo. Kung alam lang natin kung ano talaga tayo then we would say pataytayo. If we only had a revelation of the standard, the holiness of God, we would be pronouncing doom on ourselves. Maintindihan natin ang sinabi ni James na “grieve, mourn, and wail”. Si Isaiah ay nagsalita “I am ruined.” The word literally means unraveled, “natanggal sa pagkahabi” . He felt like a rug all unwove with threads in heap on the ground. “I thought I had it all together, but when I see God in His holiness, I am a mess.” I see the vile things that have come from my heart and over my lips. Isaiah saw that his false standard, the people around him, had mouths as vile as his own did. This filthiness, he recognizes as himself, has seen the holiness of God. He will never compare himself with man again. He has a new standard. He will never walk in pride again. He has seen how lowly he really is.

• God’s mirror tells us we are simply doomed.

As Isaiah beholds this awesome beautiful sight, he is conscious of how filthy – how out of place – deserving of righteous justice his condition is. In chapter 5 as the Seer of God he is pronouncing woes on the people of Israel. Woe is the opposite of blessing, a declaration of wrath to be poured out in justice. But in chapter 6 the holiness of God causes him to pronounce woe against himself.

• God’s mirror tells us that God’s holiness is such that we should rightly fear God.

A holy God is the last thing man would ever desire to see. It is that holiness, that otherness, that causes us to fear. In the light of such purity we cry with Isaiah, “Woe is me! I am undone.” The revelation of such purity causes us to see how impure we are. In the light of that absolute purity we see the loathing of sin. “Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity.” Hab 1:13

3. An encounter with God’s holiness should cause me to emphasize holiness. Ang bawat encounter ay nangangahulugan ng isang panibagong emphasis sa kabanalan Niya.
His holiness will cause me to condemn sin especially in my own being

The fact that “God is holy” condemns all impurity. The Word declares God hates all workers of iniquity. (Ps 5:5) Like a mother hates the disease that ravishes the child she loves, our Father God hates sin. His holy purity is all that should be. Everything else is vile, out of place with all creation that this pure God created in a state of goodness. Evil is the destructive disease of creation that was created in holiness, wholeness, purity. What is this black speck of evil rebellion before all this brilliant holy goodness? It is my sin. And what will holy justice do with such evil rebellion toward His glorious goodness? Judge it righteously! He will give me what I deserve, unless I flee to the One who took that judgement in my place. As Moses hid in the cleft of the rock so we hide our unholiness in the wounds of Christ as the glory of God passes by.









4. An encounter with God’s holiness should make me treat Him as the one and only Holy God. Ang encounter natin sa Kanya dapat ay mag-udyok sa atin na ituring Siya bilang kaisaisang Dios na banal at wala ng iba.

If there is an attribute that we ought to see it is the holiness of God.

The Scriptures refer to God as Almighty but more frequently He is described as holy. Sa Hebreo ang repetition ng salita ay nagsisigniy ng importansiya ng isang bagay. It is a verbal and written devise used to make us tune in more attentively and add emphasis.
Ang istilo na ito ay ginamit ni Jesus noong sinabi Niya Katotohanan, katotohanan….Verily, ______.”
Ginamit rin ni Paul ang repetition noong sinabi niya na ang huwad na mga guro ay dapat iaccurse kahit sila pa ay magpapakita bilang angel of light. Kaya sinabi niya, “Again I say unto you”, at pagkatapos ay inirepeat niya ang lahat ng sinasabi niya

In Isaiah we read of the praise around the throne of God in the Old and New Testaments the angels are not crying, “holy” or “holy, holy” but “holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts!”

These seraphs created to be in the presence of God in all his glory are continually overwhelmed again and again with his holiness. They do not cry love, love, love or merciful, merciful, merciful, or even powerful, powerful, powerful. Isaiah 6:4 (NIV) One day you will witness this with your own eyes and you’ll be singing Revelation 4:11.

Ang lahat ng nasa sa kanya ay banal. His justice is holy justice, His wisdom a holy wisdom, His arm of power a “holy arm” (Ps 98:1), His truth or promise a “holy promise” (Ps 105:42). His name, which signifies all His attributes in conjunction, “is holy,” Ps 103:1

Holiness is the beauty or splendor of all his attributes, and thus we worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Ps 110:3 “Power is God’s hand or arm, omniscience His eye, mercy his bowels, eternity His duration, but holiness is His beauty.” SC 2 Chron 20:21 God appointed singers in Israel “that they should praise the beauty of his holiness.”


5. An encounter with God will cause me to live for Him in holiness. Ang encounter natin sa Kanya ay dapat magtulak sa atin na mamuhay na banal kagaya Niya.

Our holy God demands that we be holy? Over and over again in the Law God said we are to be holy because He is holy! Peter repeats it in the New Testament. All impurity does not belong in God’s creation! It should not be in God’s presence.”
Let us consider these verses from (Lev 20:8, 21:15,23):
“Consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am your holy God. Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the Lord who makes you holy….I am the Lord, who makes him holy….I am the Lord who makes them holy….

What do we see here?
God is holy.
He demands that we live holy lives.
His laws are to be standards that we should follow.
We are by nature unholy, unable to obey.
But instead of obliterating us to nothing He changes us that we may be able to obey Him.
We are not perfect. We are only a people whose perfect and holy God is at work in changing us.

Conclusion: Today we stand in that pure Presence of the Holy One we are as He created us to be. We are good only because He our good God covered us. Our goodness is not because of what we did, but what He did in our place. His holiness is satisfied because He made us holy and is continuously making us holy. Rebellion is gone. All is pure and in unity. Praise his holy name!

1. Pag –ireview natin ang ang ating natutunan sa mga nakaraan na mga linggo, makita natin na ang Kristiyano ay
a. isang taong ipinanganak muli,isang taong namumuhay ng bagong buhay
b. namumuhay sa pamamagitan ng pananampalataya na may isang hangad ang maging isang aliping tunay ng Diyos at
c. itinalaga para sa Panginoon upang mabuhay ng may kabanalan
2. Hindi ito nangangahulugan na madali ang buhay Kristiyano sapagkat alam natin na ikaw at ako ay may kalaban, ikaw man ay mananampalataya o’ hindi na may isang pakay lang ang kalaban na ito.na ang masira tayo habang tayo ay namumuhay dito sa mundo na ito.
3. Sa gitna ng pursigidong paninira ng ating kalaban may tulong tayo na wala sa iba --- ito iyong tulong mula ating ama sa langit. Siya ang may tunay na concern sa atin .
Sa 1 Pe 1:5...sumulat si Pedro tungkol sa protection na ito
a. Sabi niya “And God in His mighty power, will make sure “ that you get there safely to receive it , because you are trusting in Him
b. Gumagamit si Pablo dito ng isang military term na ang meaning "to mount guard as a sentinel; Kung sa atin pa’y to hem in o’ protect" (Strongs)> Siya mismo ang gwardiya natin.

Ngayong araw nais ko na maakita natin ang layunin ng kalaban, ang provision ng ating Panginoon at ang responsibilidad natin sagitna ng Kanyang proteksyon.

I. ANG LAYUNIN NG ATING KALABAN AY ANG ATING KASIRAAN

A. Ang ating kalaban ay si Satanas.

1. si Satanas ay parang isang leon na aali-aligid at umaatungal
1 Pe 5:8

2. Siya’y hindi lang inihambing sa isang leon siya rin ay mapag-
Kunwanganghel ng kaliwanagan.

Si Satanas ay counterfeit na Kristo, kagaya kay Kristo nandiyan lang hindi upang palakasin tayo kundi takutin. May mga lingkod din siya na nagkukunwaring lingkod ng kabutihan

Satan works like a counterfeit Christ. He is just around not to comfort us or strengthen us but to trouble us as we obey. He also has his own workers but unlike the workers of Jesus Christ his workers misleads even us. He misleads through the false righteousness of his workers and in 1 Tim 4.1-3, he also misleads through false doctrine.

B. Kailangan nating kalabanin ang ang ating kalaban at hindi tayo nagiisa sa paglaban sa ating kalaban.

Sa 1 Pet.5.9 lalong kailanganin nating kalabanin ang ating kalaban. Sabi ni Pedro. “Tumayo kayo ng matatag sa pananampalataya at labanan ninyo siya, yamang alam ninyo na dumaranas din ng glahirapan ang mga kapatid ninyo sa buong sanlibutan.” .

Hindi tayo nagiisa sa paglaban sa ating kalaban, ang ating
Panginoon ay dinescribe sa 1 Pet 5.10 na "the God of all grace" o’
our God who is full of kindness through Christ” We are not
alone in our resistance; He stands ready to assist us. This leads to
our next point

II. MAY PROVISION ANG ATING PANGINOON, ANG ATING
PROTECTION

A. ANG ATING DIYOS AY ANG ATING KATULONG...

Ang salitang advocate dito ay equivalent ng isang legal defender. Ganyan nga ang ating Panginoon Jesu Kristo ang ating legal defender.

c. pangatlo bilang maawain at tapat na sacerdote - He 2:17-18

Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 2. Siya rin ang nagbigay ng paraang upang makatakas tayo sa

Bantayan natin ang salitang seized (NIV) ito ang salitang
Nakakapanghawak. So ano ang meaning ng verse?

Alam ng Diyos na ang bawat pagsubok na dumarating sa

Hindi lang Katulong natin ang ating Diyos
B. ANG DIYOS siya ring ATING TAGUMPAY...

1. Siya ang ating tagumpay sapagkat siya ang nagbibigay sa atin ng kapangyarihan na gumawa ng nais Niya. Ang confidence natin na makakaya natin ang isang bagay ay nagmula po sa kapangyarihan ng atingDiyos. Our confidence comes from God's power, not our own.

Phil. 4:13
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

2. Binigay Niya ang kapangyarihan na higit pa sa kapangyarihan ng kalaban. He provides power that is greater than Satan‘s power.

Kung ang ating kalaban ay humahangad ng ating kassiraan at kung ang provision lang ng ating Panginoon ang ating protection tayo ay may responsibilidad na maging matapat sa kanya
III. ANG ATING RESPONSIBILIDAD AY ANG MAGING MATAPAT SA KANYA.

Hindi lang kaligtasan ang bigay Niya sa atin. Binigay rin Niya sa atin ang KATIYAKAN ng ating kaligtasan. He also gave us ETERNAL SECURITY...

Walang maaring kumuha sa atin mula sa kamay ng Diyos.

The Bible teaches the security of the believer. No one can snatch a
believer out of the hand of God and nothing can
separate a believer from the love of Christ

John 10:28-29
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. [29] My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. cf- Ro 8:35-39
Note carefully: these promises are for one who is a
believer!

Consecrated To God

INTRODUCTION

1. Malaki ang kahalagahan ng pagiging Kristiyano.

a. Ang Kristiyano reborn naka –experience na ng bagong buhay
b. Ang nanagmay-ari na sa Kanya ay ang Diyos. At bilang pagmammay-ari ng Diyos alam niya na ssiya aay dayo lang sa lupa. Ganyan tayo

2. Pangalawang kahalagahan ay tungkol sa ating pagkatinalaga o’ pagkabinukod sa Panginoon. You and I have been separated by Christ to be consecrated and made holy until He comes.

Sa OT maraming mga example ng mga bagay, hayop at mga tao na itinalaga ng Diyos. Ang prosesso ng pagtatalaga ay nag- iinvolve ng sanctification

Ang salitang pagtalaga, "sanctify" and "sanctification" ay translated mula sa orihinal
(hagiazo - hag-ee-ad'-zo} na ang meaning ay “to make holy”,” to set apart for a special purpose”. May mga related terms ito na holiness, consecration, saint pagganap banal, pagtatalaga, o’ santo.

Nais kong makita natin ngayon na ang pagiging banal ngayon ay siyang ating katayuan ngayon at siya rin pang-araw araw nating pamumuhay.Our being consecrated to God pertains to both our standing before God and our conduct before God

Dalawang bagay ang ating titingnan ngayon.

Una na ikaw at ako na nandiyan kay Kristo ay GANAP na banal at nakatalaga na para sa Kanya.

Pangalawa , tayo bilang mga anak ng Panginoon GINAGAWANG banal.

The first talks about the status of our being sanctified, the second talks about process of our being sanctified.





I. THE STATUS OF OUR SANCTIFICATION

A. IKAW AT AKO AY GANAP NA BANAL KAY KRISTO.
ALL CHRISTIANS ARE SANCTIFIED...

May 3 tanong na dapat sagutin natin dito?

1. Sino ang ginanap na banal? Who were "sanctified in Christ Jesus? Ang iglesia sa Korinto ay kagaya ng isang ordinaryo na iglesia. Dinescribe ito ni Pablo na sanctified, or binanal dahil sa pakikipag-isa kay Kristo Jesus

1 Cor 1:2

2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

2. Kailan ba sila ginanap na banal? When had they been "sanctified? -

1 Cor 6:11
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
…. Ngunit nilinis kayo, binanal at pinawalang sala sa Pangalan ng Panginoong Jesu Kristo.

3. Kahit hindi sila perfect , ginanap ba sila ng Diyos na banal? Marami sa mga taga Korinto ang tinawag ni Pablo na "babes in Christ" at "carnal" –

1 Cor 3:1-3

1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?

1) They were filled with envy, strife and divisions
2) They were acting carnally, as mere men
3. Thus, while Christians may not be perfect, they are still called SAINTS

B. MAHIRAP MAN ISIPIN PERO TOTOO ITO, IKAW AT AKO NA NANDIYAN KAY KRISTO AY TUNAY NA SANTO. You and I who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are the real saints.

Dahil tayo ay ibinukod at itinalaga ang angkop na tawag sa atin ay santo. Because they had been "set apart" to be "God's holy people" it was appropriate to be called "saints" –

1 Cor 1:2

2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Col 1:2

2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

cf 1 Pe 2:9

9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

-- This pertains to our standing before God, we are blessed to be considered His holy people

II. THE PROCESS OF SANCTIFICATION


A. TAYO AY ONGOING BUSINESS HINDI UNFINISHED BUSINESS. WE ARE CONTINUOSLY "BEING SANCTIFIED"... Tapos na aat ginagawa pa!

1. Ang pagtatalaga at pagbubukod Niya sa atin ay di natatapos man lang.
Sanctification is an on-going process; while we are here it never ends. Christ
is continuously at work in us. We who are in Christ are "BEING sanctified"

Heb 2:11
11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,


2. Nagsimula ang pagtatalaga Niya sa atin noong pagtanggap natin sa kanya. Nais din Niya na lumago at maging kumpleto itong gawain Niya sa atin. Sanctification begins at conversion, and continues as we grow in the faith

Paul prayed for the Thessalonians:

1 Thess 5:23
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Kailangan tayong mamuhay na banal ayon sa pgatatalaga o’ pagbubukod Niya
sa atin Thus Christians are to pursue sanctification (holiness)

As the Hebrews were admonished

Heb 12:14

14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

B. WE ARE CONTINUOSLY BEING SANCTIFIED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT AND BY HIS WORD.

1. Tayo ay itinalaga ng Banal Na Espiritu upang sumunod sa Kanya.
We are"sanctified by the Holy Spirit inorder to follow Him.

Rom 15:16

16 that I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

1 Pe 1:2 (NASV)
1 Peter 1:1-2
2 elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

2. Ang gabay sa pagtatalaga Niya sa atin ay ang salita Niya. Sanctification is
also the work of God’s Word.

Note that sanctification is also said to be tied in with the
Word of God:

Jn 17:17a. "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." -

Ep 5:26b. "that He might sanctify...by the word" -

Since the Word of God is said to be "the sword of the Spirit"
(Ep 6:17), the Word is evidently the instrument used by the

Ours may not seem to be seem to be a very anti-Christian society but the encouragement from Peter is as relevant today than ever.
Dito sinasabi ni Pedro live like Jesus even when life is really tough. When life is really hard in Christ you will have the power to love. You will have that Living Hope.
Today, I want to try to answer three questions about this "living hope":

1) What is "living hope?" Anong klaseng pagasa ang buhay na pagasa na ito?

Hope, as we typically think about it, is a desire for some future thing which we are uncertain of attaining but this is not what the New Testament says.
a. Ito ay _____________________hope. 1 Pet 1.13 ….he does not mean we should desire it and be uncertain of it. "Hope fully," means be intensely desirous and fully confident that Jesus Christ is coming again with grace for his people.
b. Next ito ay _____________________________________ hope. Living hope is hope that has power and produces changes in life. So Christian hope is a strong confidence in God which has power to produce changes in how we live.

2) The second question I want to answer is, How does this hope arise in our hearts? Paano ito magmumula sa ating puso?

We have hope because of his ___________, We have hope because of the _________________of God’s Word. And because we have His hope, we have new birth. New birth is the radical inward heartfelt change when we change our __________________ for the living hope in Jesus Christ.

3) And how does this living hope empower a person with the power to love. Paano nga ba nagbibigay ang buhay na pagasa na ito ng kapangyarithan na umibig. Notice 1 Peter 1:13-15:

How does this living hope help us to love.
First of all, When we hope we are actually pushing out
Second, this living hope helps us imitate Jesus Christ .

Finally, this living hope empowers holy love is by giving us the assurance of God's blessing and care which we need in order to follow through on some of his specific hard commands. There is only one basic reason why we disobey the commands of Jesus: it's because we don't have confidence that obeying will bring more blessing than disobeying.

Ang Kapangyarihan ng Pag asa


Intro. It was good to go home! But the surrounding circumstances around was not so good. Some of my loved ones were sick , not a very hopeful sight. There were less tourists. Less tourists in my town means less jobs, less jobs means less money. Na tempt talaga ako mag-complain but I was reminde by this passage.

Naremind tuloy ako sa nakasulat magaan lang ang ating nararanasan ikumpara sa luwalhati na ating madadatnan. Paul also wrote about the lashes, the shipwrecksand the many sacrifices he had to endure. Sumulat din si Pedro ng isang reminder para sa sa mga Christians noon na naging encouragement para sa kanila Ito ay isang encouragment di lang para sa kanila noon. Ang encouragement na ito ay angkop rin para sa atin ngayon...
Sinulat ni Pedro ito 30 years or so pagkatapos namatay at muling pagkabuhay ng ating Panginoong Jesus.

Angkop sa atin ngayon sapagkat

Kagaya nila noon meron din tayong mga umaabuso na mga amo (2:18),
Ang iba sa atin ay may binabantaan ng ating mga mahal sa buhay (3:1, 6),
Ang iba sa atin ay linoloko ng ating mga kaibigan at mga kakilala 4:14).
Of course wala violent na persecution pero sa ibang bansa meron na (4:12-18).

Kagaya noon ang tanong para sa atin ngayon ay

Paano ba tayo magkaroon ng kapangyarihan sa kapanahunan ng kahirapan di lang upang palampasin ang kasamaan ngunit upang tayo ay magkaroon din ng kasiyahan at pagibig sa panahon na ito?

How can we have the power of the soul in times of great stress and anxiety not just to endure the evil day, but to be joyful and to fill our lives with the fruits of righteousness (Phil. 1:11), with deeds of kindness, with projects of mercy, with labors of love?

Paano ba tayo magkaroon ng kasiyahan sa kabila ng mga kahirapan?

How, when your life is in jeopardy, or your job, or your marriage, or your health, or your respect in the community--how can you rise up with joy and bless those who abuse you and devote yourself to labors of love?

Ibang klaseng buhay ang hangad ng Panginoon para sa atin.

Tinawg Niya tayo di lang para umibig sa mga panahon na mabuti.
Tinawag Niya rin tayo na umibig sa mga panahong di mabuti.

We are called to love not only in the very best of circumstances but also to love others even when our own life is falling apart.

Ang paghangad na ito nangangailangan ng isang kapangyarihan na di sa atin nanggagaling.

Loving in the worst of times takes a power of soul which is utterly beyond us. If that is what we are called to do, then the power has to come from some source greater than the human soul.

Peter does not say "when things are tough, don't fret about others, take care of yourself."
In fact, Peter emphasizes that the tougher the times the greater the need to live a life of love for others.

Listen to what he writes:

Having purified your souls, by your obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brothers, love one another earnestly from the heart (1:22).

Beloved, I beseech you as aliens and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh that wage war against your soul. Maintain good conduct among the gentiles so that in case they speak against you as wrongdoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation (2:11,12).

Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin; no guile was found on his lips. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he trusted to him who judges justly (2:21-23).

Do not return evil for evil or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary, bless; for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing. For "He that would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking guile; let him turn away from evil and do right; let him seek peace and pursue it." (3:9-11)

Above all hold unfailing your love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins (4:8).

Dito sinasabi ni Pedro live like Jesus even when life is really tough. When life is really hard in Christ you will have the power to love. You will have that Living Hope.

He begins the main body of his letter: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who according to his great mercy has begotten us anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" (1:3).

Today, I want us to answer three questions about this "living hope":
1) What is it?
2) How does it arise in our heart?
3) How does it empower us to love?

1) What is "living hope?" Anong klaseng pagasa ang buhay na pagasa na ito?

Ibangiba ang New Testament idea ng pagasa sa ating normal na idea ng pagasa.
Hope, as we typically think about it, is a desire for some future thing which we are uncertain of attaining. Ang pagasa para sa atin ay isang desire na sana mangyari ngunit di tayo sure mangyari.

a. Ito ay confident hope.
Noong sinabi ni Pedro sa 1:13, "hope fully in the grace that is coming to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ," he does not mean we should desire it and be uncertain of it. We don’t have to be uncertain because we have complete confidence in the coming of Christ. "Hope fully," means be intensely desirous and fully confident that Jesus Christ is coming again with grace for his people.

b. Next ito life changing hope.
Peter calls it "living hope." What does that mean? The opposite of a "living hope" would be a "dead hope," and that calls to mind a similar phrase in James chapter 2, namely "dead faith." "Faith without works is dead" (2:26), James says. That is, faith is barren, fruitless, unproductive (2:20). So "living faith" and, by analogy, "living hope" would be fertile, fruitful, productive hope. Living hope is hope that has power and produces changes in life. This is what "living' means in Hebrews 4:12 where it says, "The word of God is living and effective" So Christian hope is a strong confidence in God which has power to produce changes in how we live.

2) The second question I want to answer is, How does this hope arise in our hearts? Paano ito magmumula sa ating puso?

One part of the answer is given here in 1.3, another part is given in verses 1.23-25.

In verse 3, Peter says, "we are born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

In verses 23-25 Peter says, "You have been born anew not of perishable seed
but of imperishable through the living and abiding word of God; for all flesh
is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers and
the flower falls, but the word of the Lord abides forever. That word is the
good news which was preached to you."

We have hope because of his resurrection, we have hope because of the truth of God’s Word

And because we have His hope we have new birth.
What is new birth? "By his great mercy we have been born anew unto a living hope."
Have you ever asked the question: What makes you you? Ano ang bagay na gumagawa sa iyo na ikaw mismo? What is the essence of your unique personhood?
If you probe deeply you will find that it is not your actions or thoughts or ideas.
It is your desires. We are most basically what we crave. Ideas and principles will be brought in afterwards to justify our appetites and passions.

The new birth therefore is the radical inward heartfelt change which happens when we change our hopelessness for the living hope in Jesus Christ.

If that is true, then a radical change in our desires and longings will mean a radical change in our personhood. Something new comes into being and that is what Jesus and John and Paul and Peter call the new birth or regeneration. In New Birth we cease to put our hopes (our desires and longings) on things that are in the world, and instead place our hopes and desires on God.

2) And how does this living hope empower a person with the power to love. Paano nga ba nagbibigay ang buhay na pag asa na ito ng kapangyarithan na umibig.
Notice 1 Peter 1:13-15
Gird up your minds, be sober, set your hope fully upon the grace that is coming to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct.

How does this living hope help us to love.
First of all, When we hope we are actually pushing out greed and self-pity.
When we live without hope we live only for what we can see making us consider only what is good for us. If we live with hope we are reminded that we have Him who truly cares for us 1 Peter 5:7, "Cast all your anxieties on me because I care for you

Second, this living hope helps us imitate Jesus Christ .
You always tend to imitate the people you admire most and desire most strongly to be around. Kids tend to dress and walk and talk like their heroes. And so do we adults, though we are less blatant about it. A person who hopes intensely in Jesus Christ, who longs to see him and be with him, will inevitably start to think and feel and act like Jesus. "Everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure"(1 John 3:3). Strong hope to see Jesus is a strong power for holy love.

Finally, this living hope empowers holy love is by giving the assurance of God's blessing and care which we need in order to follow through on some of his specific hard commands. There is only one basic reason why we disobey the commands of Jesus: it's because we don't have confidence that obeying will bring more blessing than disobeying. We do not hope fully in God's promise. What did he promise? Peter passes on his teaching like this: "Do not return evil for evil or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called that you may obtain a blessing. He who would love life and see good days & let him turn away from evil and do good." You will always be better off to obey than to disobey, even if it costs you your life. "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and the gospel's, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time & with persecutions and in the age to come eternal life." (Mark 10:29-30). The only way to have the power to follow Christ in the costly way of love is to be filled with hope, with strong confidence, that if we lose our life doing His will we will find it again and be richly rewarded.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ - who according to his great mercy has begotten us anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.-- a hope that everyone can have and maintain if you pray this prayer from the heart: "Lord Jesus, I believe in my heart that you were raised from the dead and that this guarantees that your death was sufficient to pay for all my sins and therefore God is for me and not against me and that you yourself are alive today and with me to help forever. And I pray that you will help me now to hope fully in your promises so that I am freed from the greed and self-pity that come from fear, and that I might be driven to imitate your love, and that I might always believe it is more blessed to give (to obey) than to disobey. And so Lord grant me in these times of stress and anxiety to have the power of soul to be joyful and to fill my life with labors of love. Amen.
